More information about Achkarren Schlossberg Spätburgunder trocken GG - Franz Keller

The Achkarren Schlossberg Spätburgunder GG from the pen of Franz Keller from Baden reveals a brilliant, light red color in the glass. When swirling the wine glass, this red wine is characterized by a fascinating brilliance that makes it dance lively in the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Baden seduces with nuances of black currant, blackberry, mulberry and blueberry. If we trace the aromatics further, forest floor and sun-warmed rock come into play.

The Franz Keller Achkarren Schlossberg Spätburgunder GG presents itself pleasantly dry to the wine drinker. This red wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine icon wine segment. On the palate, the texture of this light-bodied red wine is wonderfully dense and powerful. The finish of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Baden, more precisely from Achkarren, finally impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the volcanic rock dominated soils.

Vinification of the Achkarren Schlossberg Pinot Noir GG by Franz Keller

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Pinot Noir. Only impeccable grape material was brought in for this wonderfully elegant single-varietal wine from Franz Keller. In Baden, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of volcanic rock. Achkarren Schlossberg Spätburgunder GG is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the grape harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Achkarren Schlossberg Spätburgunder GG is aged for another 18 months in oak barriques.

This German red wine is best enjoyed at a temperate 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to spaghetti with caper and tomato sauce, braised chicken in red wine or pasta with sausage dumplings.
