The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by oriental spices, vanilla and dark chocolate.
On the palate, Franz Keller's Achkarrer Schloßberg Pinot Gris GG opens pleasantly dry, grippy and aromatic. There is dry and really dry. This white wine belongs to the latter group, as it was vinified with only 1.7 grams of residual sugar. On the tongue, this light-bodied white wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to its concise fruit acidity, the Achkarrer Schloßberg Pinot Gris GG is fantastically fresh and lively on the palate. The final of this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Baden finally thrills with considerable reverberation.
Vinification of the Achkarrer Schloßberg Pinot Gris GG by Franz Keller
The basis for the elegant Achkarrer Schloßberg Pinot Gris GG from Baden are grapes from the grape variety Pinot Gris. Achkarrer Schloßberg Grauburgunder GG is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The development of the grapes for this wine from Pinot Gris is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Baden, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and a rather moderate must weight. When perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for Achkarrer Schloßberg Grauburgunder GG are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective full harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully milled. Then fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Achkarrer Schloßberg Pinot Gris GG can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for several months.
