African Pride Wines History

African Pride Wines was established in 2002 with the idea of creating a range of wines that offer great value and character, whilst remaining true to South African style and terroir. We consider our colleagues and partners family and friends and have been working together for 16 years. In that time they have continued to expand their global presence and their wine is now widely available in over 30 countries and can now be purchased on every continent from Asia and the Gulf States to Europe and the Americas. This is a testament to the wide appeal of their wines, commitment to quality and service. At African Pride Wines they produce just over 100,000 cs per annum, grapes and wines are sourced from contract producers in Stellenbosch, Worcester, Wellington and Paarl. The wines are vinified, blended and bottled under the personal supervision of winemaker, partner and walking encyclopedia Mike Graham.

Mike is a veteran winemaker, having successfully participated in 37 harvests in South Africa and 7 harvests in France. His career started at Bergkelder (Distell), then joined Boschendal as Cellar Master before joining Stellenbosch Vineyards as Operations Manager. He was one of the first "flying winemakers" which is a group of pioneers who travelled the world to share their passion and knowledge of winemaking, working in South Africa, with stints at Louis Roederer, Joseph Drouhin and 5 vintages in the South of France for Direct Wines UK . He has judged at national and international competitions and also sits on the tasting panel of the Wine & Spirits Board of South Africa. In addition to their own brands Footprint, Forager and Just Nuisance, African Pride Wines also produce private label wines and manage international marketing and distribution for a number of boutique wineries in selected markets.
