The Ajana Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi by Ferruccio Deiana from Sardinia reveals a dense, ruby red color in the swirled glass. With a little sideways movement, the wine glass reveals a charming garnet-red hue at the edges. When the glass is swirled, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. On the nose, this Ferruccio Deiana red wine presents all kinds of black cherries, plums, morello cherries, mulberries and blackcurrants. As if that wasn't already impressive, the ageing in large wooden barrels adds further aromas such as cocoa bean, dark chocolate and oriental spices.
On the palate, the Ajana Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi from Ferruccio Deiana is pleasantly aromatic, fruity and balanced. This dense red wine is full-bodied and multi-faceted on the palate. On the finish, this wine from the wine-growing region of Sardinia, which ages well, finally delights with its beautiful length. Once again, there are hints of morello cherry and damson plum.
Vinification of the Ferruccio Deiana Ajana Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi
The basis for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Ajana Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi cuvée from Ferruccio Deiana is Carignano, Bovale and Cannonau grapes. The Ajana Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The fact that the Carignano, Bovale and Cannonau grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has a considerable influence on the ripening of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of this process, the Ajana Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
