More information about Aloxe-Corton AOC - Joseph Drouhin

With the Joseph Drouhin Aloxe-Corton comes a first-class red wine in the glass. In this it presents a wonderfully bright, light red color. Held at a slight angle, a transition of color toward garnet red is evident at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. When swirling the wine glass, one can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Joseph Drouhin reveals aromas of blackberries and strawberries, complemented by caramel. The Joseph Drouhin Aloxe-Corton presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine lover. This red wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine icon wine segment. On the palate, the texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully dense. Due to its present fruit acidity, the Aloxe-Corton reveals itself impressively fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this mature wine from the wine-growing region of Burgundy finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and strawberry. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the limestone-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of the Aloxe-Corton of Joseph Drouhin

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, Pinot Noir. Only the best grapes were used for this exceptionally balanced varietal wine from Joseph Drouhin. In Burgundy, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone. Of course, the Aloxe-Corton is also determined by climate and viticultural style Côte de Beaune and Haute Côtes de Beaune. This French wine can literally be called an Old World wine, which is exceptionally impressive. When perfect physiological ripeness is assured, the grapes for Aloxe-Corton are harvested exclusively by hand without the use of coarse and less selective full harvesters. After the grape harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for the Joseph Drouhin Aloxe-Corton

Drink this red wine from France ideally tempered at 15 - 18 ° C as an accompanying wine to braised chicken in red wine, cabbage roulades or duck breast with sugar snap peas.
