"Amarone Monte Masua della Valpolicella 2012 - Il Sestante - Tommasi"
The grapes used for the Monte Masua Amarone della Valpolicella from Il Sestante - Tommasi were dried for five months before being pressed.Following fermentation, the wine is bulk matured for three years in large Slavonic oak casks.
Monte Masua Amarone ensnares the senses with a complex bouquet of Amarena cherries, stewed berries and dried fruit. The palate of this top-class red wine from Tommasi is full-bodied with a complex bouquet of red berries, marinated fruit and herbal notes. Bulk maturation in wood lends the wine structure and depth. The alcohol and tannin content harmonise well with its opulent fruitiness and end in a long finish. This Amarone should definitely be decanted before serving.
In 1986, the Tommasi Family bought the Pedemonte winery Il Sestante in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico wine growing region. The wines from Il Sestante are made only of grapes from three single locations: Monte Masua produces the Amarone della Valpolicella, the premier cru I Pianeti produces a Valpolicella Classico Superiore, while the white Lugana comes from San Martino. Il Sestante stands for excellent, regionally characteristic wines that reflect the high potential of its various individual vineyards.
