The powerful Anwilka from Klein Constantia flows into the glass with a dense purple color. If one holds the glass at a slight angle, a transition of color toward garnet red can be seen at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. If you give it some air in the wine glass by swirling it, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in church windows at the edge of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Klein Constantia offers aromas of blackberries, blueberries, mulberries and black currants, complemented by oak, cigar box and toasted barrique. On the palate, Klein Constantia's Anwilka opens delightfully dry, grippy and aromatic. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Anwilka flatters with a soft palate feeling, without lacking juicy liveliness at the same time. The final of this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape finally captivates with considerable reverberation.

Vinification of the Klein Constantia Anwilka

The basis for the powerful Anwilka from the Western Cape are grapes from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Syrah. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Anwilka are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately sent to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for 14 months in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for Klein Constantia Anwilka

This red wine from South Africa is best enjoyed at a temperate temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to potato pan with salmon, veal boiled fillet with beans and tomatoes or goose breast with ginger red cabbage and marjoram.
