More information about Barbaresco DOCG - Pico Maccario

The Pico Maccario Barbaresco is a first-class red wine in a glass. It presents a wonderfully dense, ruby red color. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in the clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. This single-varietal Italian wine shows wonderfully expressive notes of blackcurrants, sour cherries and roses in the glass. There are also hints of other fruits.

This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally low residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so, despite its dryness, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance. Taste does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. This fleshy red wine is full-bodied and multi-layered on the palate. On the finish, this storable red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of sour cherry and blackcurrant.

Vinification of the Barbaresco from Pico Maccario

This powerful red wine from Italy is made from the Nebbiolo grape variety. Barbaresco is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. After the grape harvest, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Recommendation for the Barbaresco from Pico Maccario

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to duck breast with sugar snap peas, vegetable couscous with beef rissoles or lamb ragout with chickpeas and dried figs.

Awards for the Barbaresco from Pico Maccario

In addition to absolute top wine status, this Pico Maccario wine can also boast awards and top ratings above 90 points. In detail, these are for the 2018 vintage
