More information about Barbera d'Asti Lavignone DOCG - Pico Maccario
The bouquet of this red wine from Piedmont impresses with aromas of black cherry, morello cherry, mulberry and blackberry. If we trace the aromas further, walnut, brittle and full nut chocolate are added.
This dry red wine from Pico Maccario is for wine drinkers who like it absolutely dry. The Barbera d'Asti Lavignone comes very close to this, as it was produced with just 1 gram of residual sugar. The texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully dense on the palate. The Barbera d'Asti Lavignone is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate thanks to its present fruit acidity. On the finish, this red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of blackcurrant and blueberry. In the finish, mineral notes of the clay and loam-dominated soils are added.
Vinification of the Pico Maccario Barbera d'Asti Lavignone
The balanced Barbera d'Asti Lavignone from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Barbera grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on loam and clay soils in Piedmont. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Barbera d'Asti Lavignone can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 9 months. Ageing in wooden barrels is followed by a long period of maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.
