More information about Barbera d'Alba DOC - G.D. Vajra

Swirling the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. Ideally poured into a Bordeaux glass, this red wine from the Old World reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, plum and prune, rounded off with oriental spices, juniper and gingerbread spice.

This red from G.D. Vajra is the right choice for all wine lovers who like as little sweetness as possible in their wine. However, it is never sparse or brittle, but round and smooth. The texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense on the palate. The finish of this mature red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region, more precisely from Alba DOC, is impressive with a remarkable aftertaste.

Vinification of the G.D. Vajra Barbera d'Alba

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Barbera. Only the best grapes were used for this exceptionally powerful single-varietal wine from G.D. Vajra. The Barbera d'Alba is also clearly determined by the climate and the Alba DOC winegrowing style. This Italian wine can literally be described as a wine of the Old World, which presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive way. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand once optimum ripeness has been ensured. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Barbera d'Alba can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 14 months.

Dining recommendation for the Barbera d'Alba from G.D. Vajra

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to chickpea curry, potato pan with salmon or vegetable stew with pesto.
