    Barbera d'Alba DOC 2019 - Prunotto

The Barbera d'Alba DOC from Prunotto appears in a glass of ruby red with violet reflections. The nose reveals fresh floral and fruity aromas, rose petals, cherry, blackcurrant, vinous notes typical of the variety and spicy nuances resulting from the ageing of the wood. Full-bodied, round and harmonious on the palate, soft and with balanced, fresh acidity. Long, pleasing, fresh finish.

Vinification of the Barbera d'Alba DOC of Prunotto

The grapes for this pure Barbera come from vineyards in Barbaresco, Treiso, Alba and Barolo. The soils are characterised by shell limestone and sediments, mixed with sand and clay marl. After the harvest, the grapes are vinified separately by vineyard. They are destemmed and pressed and macerated on the skins for about a week at controlled temperatures, followed by alcoholic fermentation for 30 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place during the first cold days of December and is completed by the middle of the month. Half of the wine is then aged for 4 months in French barriques in the second pass and the other half in stainless steel tanks. Then the wines of the different vineyards are married, the Barbera d'Alba bottled, where the wine rests for another 2 months before being sold.

Food pairing for the Barbera d'Alba DOC from Prunotto

This beautiful Barbera d'Alba is very versatile. Thanks to its round taste, it goes well with many dishes, for example with fried dishes, as well as with Bollito, the Piedmontese tradition of meat stews, from starters to main courses. It should be served at room temperature.
