More information about Barolo DOCG - Gian Piero Marrone

This barrel-aged Barolo from the wine-growing region of Piedmont is a dense ruby red in the glass. At the rim, this Italian red wine also shows a transition to garnet red. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in the stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. With a little time in the glass, this red wine from the Old World reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of lilac, blackberry, lily and mulberry, rounded off by further fruity nuances contributed by the barrel ageing.

On the palate, Gian Piero Marrone's Barolo starts off wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. Some wines are dry on the label, others really are. This red wine belongs to the second group, as it was vinified with only 1.2 g of residual sugar. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Thanks to the moderate fruit acidity, the Barolo flatters the palate with a soft sensation without lacking in juicy liveliness. On the finish, this mature red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of blackberry and lavender.

Vinification of the Gian Piero Marrone Barolo

This powerful Barolo from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Nebbiolo grape variety. Barolo is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled. Once the wine is finished, the Barolo is carefully harmonized.

Dining recommendations for the Barolo by Gian Piero Marrone

This vegan red wine from Italy should ideally be served at a temperature of 15 - 18°C with goose breast with gingery red cabbage and marjoram, stuffed peppers or ossobuco.
