More information

The Barolo from Borgogno is a very elegant, pure red wine with a strong character from the Italian DOCG Barolo wine-growing region in Piedmont.

The red color of this wine resembles a sparkling ruby with a violet core. An expressive, persistent and multi-layered bouquet of ripe cherries, dried plums, spices, caramel and cedar wood flows from the glass. The balanced and enormously deep palate of this Italian red wine is enveloped in a spicy, soft texture. The very good structure is supported by intense flavors and distinctive tannins. The unforgettable finish lingers with its wonderful length and spicy nuances.

Vinification of the Barolo from Borgogno

The Nebbiolo grapes for this red wine come from five of the most prestigious vineyards in the Barolo region: Cannubi, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Fossati, Liste and San Pietro delle Viole.

After the grapes are harvested, the grapes are immediately taken to the Giacomo Borgogno & Figli wine cellar. The mash is first fermented spontaneously for 12 days in concrete vats - followed by maceration for 30 days at a constant temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. Malolactic fermentation takes place for 15 days before this red wine is placed in the barrel.

Once the fermentation process is complete, this wine matures for 4 years in large Slavonian oak barrels (volume 4500 liters). Finally, this red wine rounds off harmoniously for another 6 months in the bottle before it leaves the Giacomo winery.

Wine recommendation for the Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo

Enjoy this dry red wine from Italy with pasta with strong sauces, pizza, dark meat (roasted or grilled) with strong sauces, game and smoked, medium-strong cheeses and hard cheeses
