The barrel-aged Baron de Chirel Verdejo Rioja from the wine-growing region of La Rioja is a dense light yellow in the glass. The first nose of the Baron de Chirel Verdejo Rioja reveals notes of acacia and mango. The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel ageing and even more fruity, balsamic nuances.
On the palate, the Baron de Chirel Verdejo Rioja from Marqués de Riscal opens wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. Some wines are dry on the label, others really are. This white wine belongs to the latter, as it was vinified with just 1.6 g of residual sugar. On the palate, this powerful white wine is characterized by an incredibly light texture. The Baron de Chirel Verdejo Rioja is impressively fresh and lively on the palate thanks to its present fruit acidity. The finish of this well-matured white wine from the Rioja wine-growing region, or more precisely from the Rioja DOCa, is convincing with a beautiful aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the granite-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Marqués de Riscal Baron de Chirel Verdejo Rioja
The powerful Baron de Chirel Verdejo Rioja from Spain is a single-varietal wine made from the Verdejo grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in La Rioja. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into granite soils. The grapes for this white wine from Spain are harvested exclusively by hand once optimum ripeness has been ensured. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation for 6 months in French oak barrels.

This white wine from Spain should ideally be enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C as an accompaniment to vegetable salad with beetroot, asparagus salad with quinoa or spaghetti with yoghurt and mint pesto.
