Barthenau Vigna S. Michele Pinot Bianco Weißburgunder Südtirol DOC 2018 - J. Hofstätter
The Barthenau Vigna S. Michele Pinot Bianco Alto Adige DOC by J. Hofstätter appears in a brilliant straw yellow in the glass. A rich and complex bouquet with fruity aromas of apple and hints of banana unfolds on the nose. On the palate this pure Pinot Blanc from northern Italy presents itself with impressive elegance, soft, very harmonious and full-bodied, the fine, balanced acidity gives it a pleasant freshness. The finish is fruity and persistent.
Vinification of Barthenau Vigna San Michele Pinot Blanc Alto Adige by J.Hofstätter
The Barthenau winery is located at an altitude of 450 m.a.s.l. Here the grapes grow in the Vigna San Michele, a vineyard on a gentle slope, the soils consist of a conglomerate of clay, limestone and porphyry. The ideal solar radiation, the good aeration offer the best conditions for an optimal ripening of the grapes, the change between warm days and cool nights is a guarantee for high acidity and thus for the long storability of this wine.
The grapes are macerated with the skins for a few hours to emphasise the fruitiness and only then gently pressed. After a slight clarification, it is fermented in large oak barrels and then aged for 15 months on the fine yeast, which is stirred weekly (battonage). After bottling, the wine is left on the bottle for another 6 months before being sold.
In South Tyrol, the "Vigna" classification indicates the origin of a single vineyard wine.
