More information about Bésoleil Columbia Valley - Betz Family Winery

The Bésoleil from Betz Family Winery is an outstanding red wine cuvée from the grape varieties Grenache (32%), Mourvedre (22%) Syrah (21%), Cinsault (20%) and Counoise (5%).
Translated, Bésoleil means "kissed by the sun". This is because the grapes grow on the banks of the Columbia River on a dry, south-facing slope.

The bouquet reveals intense notes of ripe blackberries, freshly ground white pepper and dried herbs. These are joined by floral hints of lavender and rose petals. The palate indulges in expressive flavors of juicy cordials and licorice. The texture is wonderfully lively with wonderful lushness. The long lasting finish awaits with dark berries and herbs of Provence.

Vinification of the Betz Family Winery Bésoleil

After the grapes are harvested in the Columbia Valley growing region, they are carefully selected in the winery. The must remains on the lees for a total of 3 months before undergoing a second fermentation. This is followed by 12 months of aging in French oak barrels (50% of which are new wood).  Finally, this wine rests in bottle for another 12 months.

Food recommendation for the Bésoleil from Betz Family Winery

Enjoy this dry red wine from Washington with pork medallions with crisp vegetables and potato gratin or with selected cheese and sausage specialties.
