More information about Strasser Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner Reserve DAC - Birgit Eichinger

The Ried Strasser Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner Erste Lage Kamptal DAC by Birgit Eichinger from Lower Austria presents a bright, platinum yellow color in the glass. Swiveling the wine glass, one can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. This single varietal Austrian wine reveals wonderfully complex notes of star fruit, Gallia melon, pineapple and physalis in the glass. These are joined by hints of whole nut chocolate, walnut and dark chocolate.

This dry white wine from Birgit Eichinger is for purists who like it absolutely dry. The Ried Strasser Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner Erste Lage Kamptal DAC already comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 2.1 grams of residual sugar. Balanced and complex, this powerful white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Ried Strasser Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner Erste Lage Kamptal DAC presents itself impressively fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this storable white wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of mango and star fruit. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and loess join in.

Vinification of the Birgit Eichinger Ried Strasser Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner Erste Lage Kamptal DAC

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely  the Grüner Veltliner. Only immaculate grape material was used for this exceptionally balanced varietal wine by Birgit Eichinger. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Lower Austria. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of sand and loess. The Ried Strasser Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner Erste Lage Kamptal DAC is an Old World wine through and through, as this Austrian breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the harvest, the grapes arrive swiftly at the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by a few months of maturation on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for the Birgit Eichinger Ried Strasser Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner Erste Lage Kamptal DAC

This Austrian white wine is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce, braised chicken in red wine or stuffed peppers.
