More information about Blauer Zweigelt - Stift Altenburg

With the Stift Altenburg Blauer Zweigelt comes a first-class red wine in the glass. There it presents a wonderfully bright, light red color. This varietal Austrian wine shows in the glass wonderfully expressive notes of raspberries, violets and plums. In addition, hints of green bell pepper, smoke and black cherry.

On the palate, the Blauer Zweigelt from Stift Altenburg opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Balanced and complex, this fleshy and light red wine presents itself on the palate. Finally, on the finish, this wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria delights with beautiful length. There are again hints of violets and plum. In the finish, mineral notes of the gravel-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of the Blauer Zweigelt from Stift Altenburg

The balanced Blauer Zweigelt from Austria is a single-varietal wine, pressed from the Zweigelt grape variety. In Lower Austria, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of gravel. After harvesting, the grapes quickly reach the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn off.

Serving recommendation for Stift Altenburg Blauer Zweigelt

This Austrian is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to duck breast with sugar snap peas, ossobuco or stuffed peppers.
