Blaufränkisch Ried Föllig 2015 - Esterházy

The Blaufränkisch Ried Föllig from Esterházy from the single vineyard Großhöflein Ried Föllig in the Austrian wine-growing region Leithaberg / Neusiedlersee-Hügelland is an elegant, fruity and spicy and incomparable red wine.

In an appealing dark ruby red with garnet red reflexes this wine presents itself in the glass. A complex bouquet enchants the nose right from the start. It unfolds fruity aromas of dark cherries and blackberries, which are perfectly underlined by spicy notes of juniper and white pepper.

On the palate, this Austrian red wine has a wonderfully fine structure and cool minerality, which gives this wine more elegance. In the finale this site wine has an incredible length, which clearly emphasizes its potential.

Vinification of the Esterházy Ried Föllig Blaufränkisch

The uppermost part of this larger site is owned by Esterházy and lies at an altitude of 200 to 210 metres. The soil is characterized by black clay, very rich in humus - underneath it is a yellow-brown subsoil with a moderate amount of clay and weathered, fine limestone. The Blaufränkisch vines are 28 years old.

The berries are harvested exclusively by hand - followed by strict selection. Once arrived at the Esterhazy wine cellar, the berries are not crushed. For 20 days the grapes are fermented in wooden fermentation racks at a controlled temperature of 26 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Once the fermentation process is complete, this wine matures for over 16 months in new and used barriques.
