More information about Blecua DO - Viñas del Vero

The Blecua of Viñas del Vero from Aragon reveals a dense ruby color in the wine glass. At the edges also shows a color transition to the brick-colored... When swirling the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which shows in strong church windows at the edge of the glass. This Spanish cuvée reveals wonderfully fragrant and complex notes of plums, black currants, blackberries and blueberries in the glass. These are joined by hints of cocoa bean, cigar box and gingerbread spice.

The Viñas del Vero Blecua delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with 3.4 grams of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this Spaniard naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all dryness. Aroma does not necessarily require residual sugar. On the tongue, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety and dense texture. Due to its lively fruit acidity, the Blecua reveals itself exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The final of this very ripe red wine from the wine-growing region of Aragon, more precisely from Somontano DO, finally captivates with extraordinary reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and clay.

Vinification of Viñas del Vero Blecua

The basis for the powerful Blecua from Aragon are grapes from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Shiraz and Tempranillo. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Aragon. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay and sand. Blecua is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Spaniard exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The fact that the Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Shiraz and Tempranillo grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has a considerable influence on the maturation of the grapes. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and rather high alcohol content in the wine. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for Blecua are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective full harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately transferred to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Blecua is aged for another 20 months in French oak barrels.
