The best of three provinces

Bodegas LAN was founded in 1972 and is one of the best wineries in Rioja. It is the only Spanish winery that has been voted one of the TOP 100 in the world for three consecutive years. The company name is made up of the initials of the three provinces that make up the Rioja Designation of Origin: Logroño, Álava and Navarre. The pride of the winery is called "Lanciano" - a truly spectacular single vineyard in Rioja: 72 hectares of vineyards surrounded by the impressive bend of the Ebro river. On this top location in Rioja Alta, ancient vines of Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano thrive. The winery also obtains other grapes from local winegrowers, whose vineyards meet the high standards of the cellar masters and who work according to the strict criteria of the estate. 

A hybrid barrel pioneer 

The bodega's barrique cellar offers an impressive spectacle: up to 65,000 oak barrels can be stored on an area of 6,400 square metres using state-of-the-art technology. LAN is one of the pioneers of mixed barrels, i.e. the staves are made of American oak, the floors of French Allier oak, but Russian oak from the Caucasus is also used, for example.
