Bosco del Merlo
Introducing Bosco del Merlo
The home of the Bosco del Merlo winery can be found in the back country of Veneto, on the Friuli border. This area is known for its long tradition of wine growing and oenology. The reason for that is quite simply its natural environment. The Alpine foothills to the north, the Adriatic Sea to the southeast and its proximity to the majestic Dolomites bring about an airy and mild microclimate. In combination with its heavy, loamy carbonatite soil, the region offers excellent growing conditions for grapevines.
Valentino Paladin, the founder of Bosco del Merlo, was well aware of these conditions when he began the enterprise in 1962. The heritage business has also profited from the new ideas and youthful enthusiasm of its founder’s children, Lucia, Roberto and Carlo Paladin. With the assistance of oenologists and agronomists, they have introduced new innovations to both the viticulture and cellars of the winery, while never losing sight of the goal to produce unique and outstanding wines. This philosophy has made the winery a model business for Veneto, and the wines produced in the Paladin cellars have been rightly bestowed with awards from numerous wine competitions. Today these wines are not only served at the tables of famous restaurants in Italy: They also represent first class Italian wines in North American and Asian restaurants as well as in vinotheques.
