    Brancaia Grappa 0,5 l 2015 - Brancaia

    Brancaia Grappa is distilled from the best grape marc of the Brancaia winery according to traditional, handcrafted methods. This elegant grappa is a modern interpretation of a traditional grappa from Tuscany. The ageing in used French oak barriques for 12 months makes the Grappa Brancaia extremely soft and gives it its warm amber colour and fine wood spice. It is a very complex and expressive grappa.

    Production process of Grappa Brancaia

    In 1981 the Swiss Brigitte and Bruno Widmer acquired the abandoned Brancaia estate in the heart of Chianti Classico. Their unyielding quality strategy and exciting, modern style quickly made Brancaia one of the top Tuscan wineries. In 1998 the family ventured into the Maremma, where they bought another vineyard near Grosetto, 12 kilometres from the sea. The basis of the grappa comes from the best marc of the winery. These come from the finest grapes of the Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. Immediately after arrival at the distillery, the pomace is distilled in traditional copper steam flasks in several steps. This slow method of distillation in copper stills produces a very soft, high quality brandy. The high percentage distillate is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. The grappa gets its amber colour in these barrels. A further maturation in the bottle takes place over several years.

    The Grappa Brancaia is the perfect complement to a meal with friends or a wonderful evening. Or you can enjoy it by the fireplace with a cigar. Its complex aromas unfold best at 18 - 22°C.
