The vines of Branciforti di Bordonaro grow on the west coast of Sicily on hills at 300 - 400 m above sea level. In the area of Trapani, one of the most planted regions of Sicily, Branciforti concentrates on its strength: traditional, high-quality viticulture with respect for nature.
The individual grape varieties are cultivated in accordance with their characteristics on appropriate terroirs and vinification is carried out specifically with this in mind. A total of 300 hectares in the area of the town of Paceco are now planted. 570000 bottles are produced annually.
Branciforti Winery - Tradition on the island
In 1985 the history of Branciforti began with the Casa Vinicola Firriato by Salvatore and Vinzia di Gaetano. Although they wanted to produce traditionally, they also included Australian production methods in the process.
They are supported by Giuseppe Pellegrino, a well-known oenologist. Sustainable growth has ensured that the group now exports to more than 30 countries. Regular awards from critics and magazines confirm its success.
Respect for the grape variety
Sicily's clay soils provide a home for several red grape varieties such as Nero d' Avola, alongside Grillo and Catarratto. The autochthonous grape varieties are very much in focus, but there are also some classics that provide diversity:
- Chardonnay
- Merlot
- Syrah
In addition, a rosé cuvée and a sparkling wine are produced by Branciforti. In the cellar, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks; some wines are also matured in barriques.
