More information about Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - Pian delle Vigne

The Brunello di Montalcino from Pian delle Vigne in Tuscany reveals a dense, ruby red color in the glass. If you hold the glass at a slight angle, you can see a transition of the wine's color towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. When the glass is swirled, this red wine reveals a high level of density and richness, which can be seen in the clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The nose of this red wine from Tuscany seduces with hints of blackberry, lilac, lily and black cherry. If we trace the aromas further, dark chocolate, gingerbread spice and vanilla are added.

This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine from the Icon wine segment, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Aroma does not necessarily need sugar. This dense, creamy, melting and silky red wine is full-bodied and complex on the palate. The finish of this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of Tuscany, more precisely from Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, impresses with its exceptional persistence. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the clay and limestone-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino

This powerful Brunello di Montalcino from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Sangiovese grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone, clay and marl soils in Tuscany. Brunello di Montalcino is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The fact that the Sangiovese grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has a major influence on the development of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for Brunello di Montalcino are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by 30 months of ageing in large wooden barrels and small oak barrels.

Dining recommendations for the Brunello di Montalcino from Pian delle Vigne

This Italian wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to chickpea curry, veal steak with beans and tomatoes or ossobuco.
