More information about Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - Tenuta di CastelGiocondo

The highly rated Brunello di Montalcino from the wine-growing region of Tuscany reveals itself in the glass - as soon as it leaves its Bordeaux bottle with the artistic design - in a dense ruby red with a beautiful color transition to garnet red. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in the stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. This Tenuta di CastelGiocondo red wine is wonderfully fruity on the nose, with dark fruity nuances of ripe blueberries, blackberries, cherries and plums... you almost think you've fallen into a basket of berries and don't want to get out. Then elegant floral notes of violets and lilac awaken. The ageing in small wooden barrels adds tertiary aromas such as forest floor and sun-warmed stone, with plenty of potential for development.

The Tenuta di CastelGiocondo Brunello di Montalcino is pleasantly dry on the palate, with dense tannins and texture. At the same time, it reveals an incredible aromatic diversity, is juicy, elegant and powerful, the mouthfeel grippy and warm. The finish of this red wine from the Tuscan wine-growing region, more precisely from Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, which is capable of maturing well - with potential for a further 15 to 20 years - ultimately impresses with its exceptional persistence and density. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets from the clay and marl-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Brunello di Montalcino from Tenuta di CastelGiocondo

The powerful Brunello di Montalcino from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Sangiovese grape variety. In Tuscany, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand, clay and marl at different altitudes, which gives the wine a distinct complexity. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimum ripeness. After manual harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in barriques at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for 36 months before the wine is finally drawn off. The ageing in the barrel is followed by a long maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Recommendation for Brunello di Montalcino from Tenuta di CastelGiocondo

This Italian red wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15-18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to spinach gratin with almonds, boeuf bourguignon or goose breast with ginger-red cabbage and marjoram.
