Buitenverwachting — Wine from the Cape of Good Hope
Over 100 years old and 100 hectares large: The Buitenverwachting winery is considered ‘the Hope of the Cape’. After all, the Sauvignon-Blancs from this establishment are top-class and have brought the region international recognition. That is credit to Hermann Kirschbaum and Lars Maack – the cellar master and owner of the winery. But aside from the desire to be recognised as producers of first-class white wines, the two are now working to establish their red wines as top-class products.
Furor at Buitenverwachting
Christine, a red wine in quaffable Bordeaux style, has already caused a sensation. Now Buiten Keur, Meifort and Merlot have followed – richly refined, they are also now destined to become rarities for gourmets. Their international availability is at least some consolation to those who can’t pay a visit to the winery’s own gourmet restaurant in the vicinity of Cape Town.
