More information about Bussia Barolo DOCG - Prunotto

The Prunotto Bussia Barolo is a first-class red wine in a glass. It has a wonderfully bright, ruby red color. When swirling the wine glass, you can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Piedmont impresses with notes of lilac, morello cherry, plum and rose. If we trace the aromas further, oriental spices, vanilla and gingerbread spice are added.

On the palate, the Bussia Barolo from Prunotto opens wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. There is dry and really dry. This red wine belongs to the latter group, as it was bottled with just 1.2 g of residual sugar. This silky, melting, velvety and dense red wine is balanced and multi-faceted on the palate. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, Bussia Barolo is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this youthful red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region, or more precisely from Barolo DOCG, is ultimately delightful with a remarkable aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the clay and sand-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Prunotto Bussia Barolo

The balanced Bussia Barolo from Italy is a single-varietal wine, vinified from the Nebbiolo grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Piedmont. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of loam, sand and clay. The Bussia Barolo is also clearly determined by the climate and the Barolo DOCG wine-growing style. This Italian wine can literally be described as a wine of the Old World, which presents itself as extraordinarily elegant and complex. The fact that Nebbiolo grapes thrive in a rather cool climate also has an undeniable influence on the ripening of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Bussia Barolo are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After manual harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off. The ageing in wooden barrels is followed by extensive bottle ageing, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Dining recommendations for Prunotto Bussia Barolo

This Italian wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is the perfect accompaniment to a spicy curry with lamb, red onions stuffed with couscous and apricots or lamb ragout with chickpeas and dried figs.
