The Cabernet Primitivo by Conte di Campiano from Apulia offers a dense, purple-red color in the swirled glass. The nose of this red wine from Puglia impresses with nuances of plum, black cherry, morello cherry and damson plum. If we trace the aromas further, we find beech smoke, air-dried ham and firewood.
The Conte di Campiano Cabernet Primitivo reveals an incredibly fruity taste on the tongue, which is not least due to its residual sweet profile. On the tongue, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety and dense texture. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, the Cabernet Primitivo flatters with a velvety mouthfeel, without lacking in juicy liveliness. On the finish, this red from the Apulia wine-growing region finally impresses with good length. There are again hints of plum and black cherry. Mineral notes from the limestone and clay-dominated soils are added in the finish.
Vinification of the Cabernet Primitivo from Conte di Campiano
The basis for the powerful Cabernet Primitivo from Apulia is grapes from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Primitivo varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Puglia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into clay and limestone soils. After the grape harvest, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of this process, the Cabernet Primitivo can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 6 months.
