Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 - Chateau Ste. Michelle
The grapes for the Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Ste. Michelle grow in the American Columbia Valley wine-growing region.
In the glass this wine shines in a rich cherry red with purple highlights. The fruity bouquet spoils the nose with intense aromas of black currant, juicy blackberries and ripe cherries - underlaid with notes of dark spices, vanilla and filigree nuances of oak wood. On the palate this American red wine is juicy and powerful with a concentrated fruit. The silky tannins are very well integrated into the body and harmonize wonderfully with the soft fullness. The long finish offers fine fruit sweetness and spicy hints of liquorice.
Vinification of Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon
This intense red wine from Washington State in the USA is vinified from 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot, 4% Syrah, 1% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot.
The ripe harvested grapes are destemmed and mixed with different yeast cultures, which maximizes the complexity of the future wine. During fermentation, the skinned cap is gently pumped under, extracting colour, aromas and soft, gentle tannins. The wine then matures for 16 months in American and French oak barrels, 32% of which are new.
Food recommendation for the Cabernet Sauvignon Chateau Ste. Michelle
This inviting Cabernet Sauvignon from North America is a perfect accompaniment to blue cheese, pasta, beef and veal, for example seasoned with rosemary, paprika, thyme and accompanied by a fine moutarde.
