More information
The Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from the pen of Masi Agricola from Veneto presents a dense, ruby red color in the swirled glass. Held at a slight angle, the Burgundy goblet reveals a charming garnet-red hue at the edges. Swirling the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in church windows at the edge of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Masi Agricola reveals aromas of dried fruit, fruit loaves, raisins, morello cherries and prunes, complemented by roasted almonds, whole nut chocolate and cocoa beans. On the palate, the Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from Masi Agricola starts off wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced, and despite its dry appearance on the palate, this red wine impresses with a delicate melt and finely woven residual sweetness. The texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense on the palate. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, the Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico has a velvety mouthfeel without lacking in juicy liveliness. On the finish, this mature wine from the Veneto wine-growing region finally impresses with its exceptional length. There are again hints of morello cherry and black cherry. Mineral notes from the volcanic rock-dominated soils are added in the finish.
Vinification of the Masi Agricola Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
The starting point for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico cuvée from Masi Agricola is Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella grapes. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on volcanic rock soils in Veneto. The Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The fact that the Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has a considerable influence on the ripeness of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden vats at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is aged for several months in French and Slavonian oak barrels. The ageing in the barrel is followed by considerable ageing in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.
