Cantine Settesoli - small producers for a large vineyard
Settesoli - seven soils. It was 1958 when the Cantine Settesoli was founded in Menfi, Sicily, and is now the largest winery on the island, in the largest vineyard of Europe, a genuine wine district in the south of Sicily near Agrigent, not far from the sea. About 70% of the approximately 5,000 winegrowers in this area work with Cantine Settesoli. A company which today has 2,000 members and 6,000 hectares, about 5% of the vineyards in Sicily, plus three wineries where about five hundred thousand tons of grapes are vinified each year, as well as a site for packaging and storage.
In the vineyards of Settesoli, wine is produced sustainably in the spirit of quality and tradition. From the autochthonous, traditional grape varieties to the international grape varieties, taking into account the Mediterranean island climate, with the latest technologies, innovation and knowledge, without losing sight of traditional knowledge and culture in order to always guarantee the best results.
With the three lines Settesoli, Mandrarossa and Inycon, Cantine Settesoli produces wines that express their terroir and an ancient wine-growing tradition, an island rich in archaeological treasures and history, wines that are pleasurable, satisfy the expectations of the most and meets the tastes of connoisseurs all over the world.
With the project "Settesoli sostiene Selinunte" (Settesoli supports Selinunte), Cantine Settesoli is the first wine-growing company to launch a fund-raising campaign for the preservation of the Selinunte Archaeological Park in Sicily, a historic site of inestimable value. For this purpose, an amount of each wine bottle sold will be donated to care for the largest archaeological site in Europe. To support this impressive initiative, a dedicated website has been created and recently was awarded with gold by the prestigious DMA Awards Italia.
