The Capitel Nicalò Valpolicella Superiore DOC from the Tedeschi winery is an appealing Italian red wine from the Veneto region, which is produced using the traditional technique of drying the grapes. It shines ruby red in the glass, clear and translucent. A complex bouquet unfolds on the nose, with aromas of wild berries, blueberries and forest moss gently mingling with spicy hints of vanilla from Slavonian oak. This beautiful Valpolicella Superiore is full-bodied and well-structured, with a lively freshness, acidity and alcohol harmonizing with the tannins. The aromas from the bouquet reappear in the finish. A complex and elegant red wine overall.

Vinification of the Capitel Nicalò Valpolicella Superiore from the Tedeschi winery

This Valpolicella is made from the traditional grape varieties Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella (30% each) and the remaining 10% from other red grape varieties typical of the region. The grapes grow on the moraine hills of Valpolicella. According to the old local custom, the grapes are left to dry briefly for a month before being destemmed and vinified. Alcoholic fermentation takes place over 14 days at a controlled temperature, after which the Valpolicella wine is aged for 12 to 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels. It then matures for a further 6 months in the bottle after bottling.
When stored well, Capitel Nicalò retains its characteristics for 7 to 10 years.
