Castelfeder

The family business Castelfeder is located in Kurtinig, in the south of South Tyrol. The founding father Alfons Giovanett attended the recognised viticultural school in San Michele all' Adige from 1937 to 1940 and had already gained many years of experience as an oenologist before he decided to fulfil his dream of owning his own winery. His son Günther followed his path and took over the business in 1989, since when he has been running Castelfeder, assisted by his wife Alessandra.

In the last few years Günther Giovanett accompanied especially his children Ivan and Ines, who were also interested in viticulture, in order to give them more and more responsibility in production and sales and one day to hand over the management of the winery.

Castelfeder has sites in the Unterlandler vineyards. This wine-growing area is virtually predestined for the cultivation of almost the entire spectrum of grape varieties. Castelfeder concentrates mainly on the cultivation of the white grape varieties

The soils here provide a good basis for the growth of the vines, and the microclimatic conditions are also ideal due to the Mediterranean influences from the south and the Alps in the north, which protect the vines from cold winds.
