The wine of the lords of the castle
The Castello Monaci was first mentioned in the 16th century. The name was given by French monks who had a place of meditation and refuge on this site. Various noble families lived in the castle afterwards, today the Memmo family is the owner and manager.
Modern technology in historical surroundings
Since the 70s, the castle has had its own cellar, which holds over 1000 barriques and was carved into the white tuff of the area. It has ultra-modern cellar technology with small steel tanks, which allow the separate vinification of many different varieties and quantities at the same time.
The entire winemaking process at Castello Monaci is designed to be sustainable. The estate has its own photovoltaic system, a water management system and uses different areas for other plants to preserve biodiversity.
