Mosel river wine

Between the Eifel and the Hunsrück lies the Moselle wine region in the Rhenish Slate Mountains, known until 2006 as Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. It is considered the oldest wine region in Germany with a tradition that goes back to Celtic and Roman times.

Moselle wine - famous and appreciated worldwide

On the steep slopes above the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer rivers, mainly white grapes are grown, of which Riesling takes the lion's share. The Moselle winegrowers produce light, dry, but also sweet wines from it, which have established the world reputation of this wine-growing region and are sold at auctions of older vintages, sometimes at considerably high prices.
