Steiermark

In the south of Austria, on the border with Slovenia, lies Styria with its vibrant capital Graz, the second largest city in the Alpine Republic and the third largest metropolitan region after Vienna and Linz. While the northern part is alpine in character, the southern part, where Styrian wine is grown, is characterized by rolling hills, some of which are of volcanic origin.

Styria - a beautiful, old cultural landscape

The area of Styria between the Alps and the not too distant Adriatic Sea is a distinct cultural landscape with a centuries-old history and tradition. Of the four wine growing provinces in Austria, Styria is the smallest with about 4,600 hectares of cultivated area. However, it has also gained a very good international reputation with its wines.
