In the glass, the Cauro Calabria from Statti offers a bright purple-red color. If you give it a little air in the wine glass by swirling it, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. This Statti red wine presents the nose with all kinds of plums, blackberries, mulberries, black cherries and plums. As if that wasn't already impressive, bitter chocolate, gingerbread spice and black tea are also added due to the ageing in large wooden barrels.
On the palate, Statti's Cauro Calabria opens wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. On the tongue, this balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, the Cauro Calabria flatters the palate with a pleasing sensation without lacking in juicy liveliness. On the finish, this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Calabria finally delights with its beautiful length. Once again, there are hints of plum and black cherry.
Vinification of the Statti Cauro Calabria
This balanced red wine from Italy is made from the Magliocco, Cabernet Sauvignon and Gaglioppo grape varieties. The Cauro Calabria is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of Old World wines. After the grape harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by ageing on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
