More information
In the glass, the Cerro Añon Gran Reserva from Bodegas Olarra reveals a dense ruby color. At the edges, this Spanish red also shows a transition to garnet red. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which shows in church windows at the edge of the glass. To the nose, this Bodegas Olarra red shows all sorts of morello cherries, mulberries, plums, blackberries and prunes. As if that wasn't already impressive, vanilla, cigar box and black tea join the mix due to the aging in small wooden barrels.
The Bodegas Olarra Cerro Añon Gran Reserva presents itself pleasantly dry to the wine connoisseur. This red wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine premium and site wine segment. In the finish, this very storable red wine from the wine-growing region of Rioja finally inspires with beautiful length. Once again, hints of black currant and blackberry show through.
Vinification of the Bodegas Olarra Cerro Añon Gran Reserva
The basis for the first-class and wonderfully powerful cuvée Cerro Añon Gran Reserva from Bodegas Olarra are Graciano and Tempranillo grapes. Of course, the Cerro Añon Gran Reserva is also determined by the climate and viticultural style of the Rioja DOCa. This Spaniard can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, with an exceptionally impressive presentation. After the harvest, the grapes immediately enter the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
Food recommendation for the Cerro Añon Gran Reserva from Bodegas Olarra
This Spanish wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to roasted calf's liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce, stuffed peppers or veal boiled beef with beans and tomatoes.
