The barrel-aged Chardonnay Venezia Giulia from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine-growing region is a bright golden yellow in the glass. In the glass, this white wine from Attems presents aromas of mango, lime, peach, apricot and orange blossom, complemented by other fruity nuances. The Attems Chardonnay Venezia Giulia impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a high quality wine, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Aroma does not necessarily need a lot of sugar. On the finish, this young wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine-growing region impresses with good length. Once again, there are hints of physalis and papaya. Mineral notes from the clay and marl-dominated soils add to the finish.

Vinification of Chardonnay Venezia Giulia from Attems

The basis for the balanced Chardonnay Venezia Giulia from Friuli-Venezia Giulia are grapes from the Chardonnay grape variety. The grapes grow close to the river in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sandstone, clay and marl. Due to the balancing influence of the nearby river, the grapes ripen more slowly and develop more aromatic depth. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Chardonnay Venezia Giulia can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months. Ageing in oak barrels is followed by considerable maturation in the bottle, which makes this white wine even more complex.

Dining recommendations for Attems Chardonnay Venezia Giulia

This white wine from Italy should ideally be served well chilled at 8 - 10°C with coconut-lime fish curry, cod with cucumber and mustard vegetables or leek soup.
