The Chardonnay Alto Adige DOC from J. Hofstätter shines straw yellow with pale green reflections in the glass. The pleasantly fresh and fragrant bouquet delights with fruity, warm, persistent apple aromas that are reminiscent of the South Tyrolean Golden Delicious and underline the varietal character of this Chardonnay. The palate reveals a fine, crisp acidity and pronounced fruitiness, supported by a beautiful and firm structure, a good basis for a wine that is capable of development and has not lost its youthful freshness even after 2 to 3 years.
Vinification of the Chardonnay Alto Adige from Tenuta J. Hofstätter
The grapes come from the estate's own hillside vineyards on loose, easily warmed marl soils around Tramin. After manual harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed for vinification, the must is clarified using natural sedimentation and then fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine then matures for a few months on its fine lees before being bottled the following spring.
Recommendation for the Chardonnay Alto Adige DOC from J. Hofstätter
We recommend this elegant, richly structured white wine from South Tyrol with light starters, pasta dishes and white meat.
