Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf du Pape AOC 2017 - Perrin & Fils
The Château de Beaucastel from Perrin & Fils from the French AOC Châteauneuf du Pape in the southern Rhône Valley is an excellent, expressive and elegant top-quality red wine cuvée made from the grape varieties Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, Counoise and other approved red varieties.
In the glass this wine shimmers in a deep Bordeaux red with rich cherry red highlights. The wonderfully elegant nose reveals an intense bouquet of ripe cherries, blackcurrants and floral notes of violets, aromatic herbs (bay leaf), a touch of spices and the finest hints of chocolate.
This French red wine convinces the palate with its incredibly elegant character. The tannins are ripe and fine, beautifully dense and concentrated structured. This perfectly underlines the seductively velvety texture, which is reinforced by finely spiced fruit. The finish is wonderfully long, sustained by elegant as well as enveloped tannins and the unforgettable interplay of fruit, spices and floral notes.
Vinification of the Perrin & Fils Château de Beaucastel
In the beautiful Châteauneuf du Pape (situated between Orange and Avignon) is Château de Beaucastel with its 70 hectares of vineyards. The soils show up on the surface with rolled pebbles, deeper lying sand, loam and limestone.
Each grape variety is picked separately and carefully by hand. Vinification takes place in oak fermenters for the reductive varieties (Mourvèdre, Syrah) and in traditional enamelled concrete tanks for the oxidative grapes (all other varieties). Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, the Perrin family marries the different varieties. Finally, this French red wine matures for 12 months in oak foudres before the cuvée is bottled.
Food recommendation for the Château de Beaucastel
This dry red wine from France harmonizes particularly well with dark meat dishes, strong game dishes or mushroom dishes. We recommend decanting this cuvée for at least 1 hour before drinking.
