More information
Perrin & Fils' Château de Beaucastel from the French AOC Châteauneuf du Pape wine region in the southern Rhône Valley is an excellent, expressive and elegant top red wine cuvée vinified from Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, Counoise and other permitted red grape varieties.
In the glass, this wine shimmers a deep Bordeaux red with rich cherry red highlights. The wonderfully elegant nose reveals an intense bouquet of ripe cherries, black currants and floral notes of violets, aromatic herbs (bay leaf), a hint of spice and subtle hints of chocolate.
The palate is convinced by this French red wine with its incredibly elegant character. The tannins are ripe and fine, beautifully dense and concentrated structure. This perfectly underscores the seductively velvety texture, which is enhanced by finely spiced fruit. The finish is wonderfully long, held by elegant as well as coated tannins and the unforgettable aromatic interplay of fruit, spice and floral notes.
Vinification of Perrin & Fils Château de Beaucastel
Located in the beautiful Châteauneuf du Pape (situated between Orange and Avignon) is Château de Beaucastel with its 70 hectares of vineyard. The soils show on the surface with rolled pebbles, deeper sand, clay and limestone.
Each grape variety is harvested separately and carefully by hand. Vinification takes place in oak fermenters for the reductive varieties (Mourvèdre, Syrah) and in traditional enameled concrete tanks for the oxidative grapes (all other grape varieties). After completing the malolactic fermentation, Famille Perrin blends the different varieties. Finally, this French red wine is aged in oak foudres for 12 months before the cuvée is bottled.
Food recommendation for the Château de Beaucastel
This dry red wine from France harmonizes particularly well with dark meat dishes, strong game dishes or mushroom dishes. We recommend decanting this cuvée for at least 1 hour before drinking.
