More information
The barrel-aged Chateau Odilon from the Bordeaux wine-growing region offers itself in the glass in bright purple. Held at a slight angle, the wine glass reveals a charming garnet red hue at the rims. After the first swirl, one can perceive a first-rate balance in this red wine, as it stands out on the walls of the glass neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. With a little time in the glass, this Old World red wine presents wonderfully expressive aromas of black cherry, mulberry, black currant and blackberry, rounded out by gingerbread spice, dark chocolate and cinnamon contributed by barrel aging.
The Chateau Odilon from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) is a good choice for all wine connoisseurs who like it dry. However, it never shows itself meager or brittle, as you would expect from a wine premium and site wine segment. Balanced and complex, this dense red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Chateau Odilon flatters the palate with a velvety feel, without at the same time lacking in juicy liveliness. In the finish, this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux finally inspires with exceptional length. Once again, hints of black currant and plum show.
Vinification of the Chateau Odilon from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)
The starting point for the premium and wonderfully balanced Chateau Odilon cuvée from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) is Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. Chateau Odilon is an Old World wine through and through, as this Frenchman exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Chateau Odilon are harvested exclusively by hand without the aid of crude and less selective machinery. After the harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in French oak barrels.
