The powerful Châteauneuf-du-Pape of Château Sixtine shimmers into the glass with dense purple. The nose of this Château Sixtine red wine shows all sorts of mulberries, black cherries, blueberries, plums and raisins. As if that wasn't already impressive, the aging in small wooden barrels adds cocoa bean, vanilla and cinnamon.
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Château Sixtine is ideal for all wine connoisseurs who like it dry. However, it is never sparse or brittle, as you would expect from a wine. This fleshy and dense red wine is full-bodied and multifaceted on the palate. The finale of this red wine from the wine-growing region of the Southern Rhône Valley, more precisely from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, finally thrills with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the soils dominated by sand and limestone.
Vinification of Château Sixtine Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The basis for the powerful Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Southern Rhône Valley are grapes from the varieties Garnacha, Mourvèdre and Syrah. The grapes grow in optimal conditions in the Southern Rhône Valley. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of clay, sand, limestone and clay. When perfect physiological ripeness is assured, the grapes for Châteauneuf-du-Pape are harvested exclusively by hand, without the aid of coarse and less selective full harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly transferred to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barriques.
