More information
The powerful Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Badia a Passignano shines in the glass with a dense ruby red color. If you give it a little air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in church windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Tuscany enchants with hints of blackberry, guava, blackcurrant and star fruit. If we explore the aromas further, the oak wood adds gingerbread spice, black tea and cinnamon.
This red from Badia a Passignano is the right choice for all wine drinkers who like as little sweetness as possible in their wine. However, it is never sparse or brittle, as you would expect from a wine from the Icon wine segment. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety, melting and dense texture. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione flatters the palate with a pleasing sensation without lacking freshness. On the finish, this very storable wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region delights with its exceptional length. There are again hints of blueberry and mango. Mineral notes from the marl and limestone-dominated soils are added to the finish.
Vinification of the Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
This powerful Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Sangiovese grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone and marl soils in Tuscany. The grapes for the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione are harvested exclusively by hand at optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden vats at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled. Ageing in barrels is followed by a long period of maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.
Dining recommendations for Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
