More information about Chocolate Block 3,0 l Doppelmagnum - Boekenhoutskloof

The Chocolate Block 3.0 l double magnum penned by Boekenhoutskloof from the Coastal Region reveals a dense, light red color in the wine glass. When swirling the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from the Coastal Region delights with nuances of plum, black currant, prune and plum. If we trace the aromatics further, vanilla, cinnamon and cocoa bean are added, encouraged by the oak influence.

This South African wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with 3.4 grams of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this South African naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily need sugar. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by a tremendously creamy texture. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Chocolate Block 3.0 l double magnum flatters with a pleasing mouthfeel, without lacking freshness at the same time. The final of this youthful red wine from the Coastal winegrowing region finally thrills with exceptional reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the sand-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Chocolate Block 3.0 l double magnum from Boekenhoutskloof

This powerful red wine from South Africa is cuvetted from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Viognier. In the Coastal region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately sent to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the Chocolate Block 3.0 l double magnum is aged for several more months in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Boekenhoutskloof Chocolate Block 3.0 l Double Magnum

This South African red wine is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as a companion to braised chicken in red wine, goose breast with ginger red cabbage and marjoram or roasted calf's liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce.
