The Cinquantino Salice Salentino DOP from Cantina Sampietrana shines dark ruby red in the glass, with a fan of dark fruit aromas on the nose, including cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry. On the palate, this fruity red wine from the south of Apulia has a juicy texture, while the firm tannin structure typical of the variety underlines its round, full-bodied character.
Vinification of the Cinquantino Salice Salentino DOP from Cantina Sampietrana
This single-varietal Negroamaro from Sanpietrana in the Salice Salentino growing region is one of the traditional wines of Apulia. The grapes are harvested by hand and after maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the majority of the wine is aged in stainless steel, with a smaller proportion in barriques to emphasize the fruity character of the Negroamaro.
With the funny Vespa and the somewhat 50s-style label, this wine is a tribute to Stefano Cervino's father, but also to the era when Cantina Sampietrana was founded and to the Vespa, which was and still is one of the most popular means of transportation in southern Italy.
