Cipresso is a brand of Enoselezione Vini d'Italia, a project by a Roman oenologist, which was launched in 1989. Instead of producing wines on a specific estate, the company looks for partners throughout Italy with whom it can produce great wines.
Cipresso Winery - A special selection from Italy
Several wine lines have been launched on the market, such as the Ceppaia wines from Tuscany, or even Cipresso or Palazzo Malgara. Enoselezione Vini d'Italia is now part of the Castelfeder Winery in South Tyrol, run by the Giovanett family.
The Cipresso terroir
The Cipresso wines come exclusively from Abruzzo, from the DOCG region around Montepulciano to be precise, with a red, a white and a rosé wine available. Abruzzo lies to the east of Rome, with the Apennines dominating the landscape. The climate is very diverse:
- cool and humid at higher altitudes
- dry and hot directly on the Adriatic Sea
Viticulture is mainly practised in the golden centre, where conical hills rise and temperatures are balanced. The clay soils are rich in limestone, which gives the local wines a typical flavour.
