The Cognac VS from Cognac Bowen is a seductive, elegant brandy from the grape varieties Ugni Blanc (80%), Colombard (15%) and Folle Blanche (5%).
In the glass, this cognac shimmers in a dark gold with amber highlights. The aromatic bouquet offers notes of flowers, fruity aromas of pears and plums as well as hints of nuts - the ageing in Limousin oak adds delicate nuances of vanilla. On the palate, the soft personality is encased by a powerful body with lively fruitiness. The floral aroma of the nose is further accompanied by slightly spicy woody notes. The elegant finish has a beautiful length.
Vinification of the Cognac Bowen VS
The grapes for this cognac are harvested very early and fermented to an acidic white wine. The acidity protects against oxidation, as cognac is not sulphurised. This base wine is now distilled twice in the copper kettle according to the traditional charentaiser distillation process. Wooden barrels from Limousin oak are chosen for the maturation. This cognac matures in the barrels for at least 2 - 3 years.
